Wells Maine

Today I went to the highest point east of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Mount Washington New Hampshire 220 mile round trip ride. Took the cog-railroad to the top 45 min. ride 37° grade, second steepest railroad in the world 3600 change in attitude. Driving back in Maine at a negative low tide and thunderstorm at the beach. Yesterday I drove 350 mile round trip to Hartford, Connecticut passing through New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Everything looked pretty much the same driving in a canyon of trees with brief periods of towns with old New England style buildings interesting though.

Gasport, New York

Today I spent the day at the Erie Canal. The boat on the canal, walk for water tunnel aqueduct for manufacturing along the canal, boat ride in the aqueduct tunnel. The stone buildings in the pictures were made from the stone from the canal. In a couple of pictures you see, what looks like a smaller canal to the right, that is the original Erie Canal it has been widened three times they had to make new larger locks. Now where there are 2 locks the first canal had five locks

The small canal on the right is the original Erie Canal
